PDK Board 2017
Hi Friends and Family. I am just so excited to formally announce to you the new Project Destiny Kids Board of Directors. The picture attached left to right is: Aloy Vilanueva (member), Pong Balinquit (Treasurer), Francis Mallorca (President), Teresa (member), Margie Wahing (Secretary), Jeberlyn Bantolinao (Vice President) and Sonia Abarquez (member) We believe God has amazing things in store for PDK. I had shared with you earlier this year that God was restructuring the ministry. Due to government laws, I as a foreigner am no longer allowed to be an officer on the board. I also shared with you how I felt that, in order to continue and truly grow we needed more Filipinos to take the lead and allow me to fade to the back ground a bit. We are so thrilled to now share with you a bit of what that restructuring will look like. The very core and heart of PDK is a vision to reach children-at-risk here in Butuan. For the last year and a half I have felt that there was a change, something new coming but just wasn’t sure what it was. I now can share what that is… PDK will now actually have 3 branches of ministry. Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
ONE: our community outreach here in the barrio where we live…we have a Saturday Awana ministry for children and Bible study for parents. We have 150 children attending. We identify and offer School Sponsorship for those in our community who would not otherwise be able to attend school. Through our community outreach here prayerfully these children will never become street children, therefore it is our preventative arm.
TWO: 2019 we will be reopening the DropIn Center in the city proper. It will run in very much the same way as it did in the past. Street children will receive food, clothing, hygiene, alternative academic education, and Bible study. Children attending regularly who show active interest in changing their lives begin to transform in the DropIn Center. With the assistance of a social worker, children who would not be able to return to an abusive or dysfunctional home would be….
THREE: Foster Care Assist. The new third branch of PDK will be to begin working with churches to train, teach, and identify families interested in becoming a foster family for these kids. He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; We believe strongly that God has made children to be in families and families to be in the church. Therefore, though God blessed the ministry of our Shelter Home in the past and moved in miraculous ways transforming the lives of so many kids….we will not move in the direction of a group home instead we will plow the ground for foster families. The idea is that the kids will be prepared at the DropIn Center while the families would be prepared in the church then the child with their new borrowed family will come spend time at PDK Farm for Family Camp where they will learn and work together to become a cohesive loving adjusted foster family.
As you can imagine there is a lot of ground to be covered and work to be done with this new picture. But we strongly feel that this is so dear to the heart of God and is the better direction to walk in. OF course we covet your continued partnership in finance and prayer as WE (YOU and PDK) plow this new ground with the Lord for His glory and the betterment of children and families here in Philippines.
Until Every Child Knows The Father’s Love,
